Coach Kraft grew up in Alberta, Canada and played all of his developmental hockey in Alberta. After minor hockey, he played Junior A and Major Junior with Red Deer and Medicine Hat respectively. Ron then pursued his education and while doing so, become heavily involved in coaching youth hockey and progressed to coach at the college, Junior A, and major junior levels.

Additional coaching experience includes short term competitions such as the World University Games, World Hockey Challenge (Under 17), and Canada Winter Games (Team Alberta).

Has coached for 10 years mostly in the house league as assistant coach, head coach & goalie coach

Two seasons Junior B - Stoney Creek Warriors (He spent both years in Major Junior Camp with the St. Mike's Majors)
Two seasons Junior C - Essex 73's, while attending the University of Windsor
