Introduction to BAHHA - Overview

The goal of Bay Area Houston Hockey Association (BAHHA) is to develop, support and promote the sport of ice hockey for youth of all ages in the Galveston Bay and Houston areas.

BAHHA was formed in 2004.  It is a not for profit, 501C3 organization run by volunteers. We have about 100 active players and have hockey teams from the Mite level (starting age 4) through to Midget (age 18).

Our home ice rink is Space City Ice Station Rink, located off I-45 between Clear Lake City Boulevard and El Dorado.  We are a separate organization from the rink (we are a major customer of the rink and enjoy a great working relationship with them).

We have 2 seasons: Summer (Apr to Jul) and Fall (Sept to Mar).

We have teams that play at three levels:

  1. House – recreational hockey played at Space City Ice Station (offered occasionally, typically in summer)
  2. Metropolitan (or Met) – Play competitively but emphasis on equal ice time.  Games in the Houston area.
  3. Travel – Play competitively, with more skilled players getting more ice time.  There is a try-out and teams are selected.  Games are in Texas (mostly Dallas) with about 6 travel weekends per fall season (3 or 4 games per weekend).

For more detailed information, see the BAHHA Parent/Player Guidebook.
